Which one is better - an inflatable kayak or a standup paddleboard?

So, you want to do a water sports activity but can’t decide over kayak vs. standup paddleboard?

Both kayaking and standup paddleboarding can be a lot of fun, but it depends on what type of experience you’re looking for. For this reason, we have put together some information that will help you choose which one will be best for you.
Why kayaking? More storage options
One great advantage of an inflatable kayak over the board is that kayaks have more storage options, especially the dry storage options. While certain boards may have bungee cords to attach various gears, kayaks have just boards without the covered areas. It means you have enough space to load up your inflatable kayak with camping gear and head out on several days of adventure. Beneficial during the cold weather
During summers, paddleboarding may be an excellent option, but in the winter season, it can get more chilled in case you fall in the water even with wearing those wetsuits or drysuits. On the other hand, sit-inside kayaks can be a fantastic cold weather vessel as you’ll stay warm and dry in the cockpit with the spray skirt attached to it even when it’s chilling.
Paddling any vessel results in splashes from your paddle but you’ll find splashing on the board more refreshing in the summers than compared to winters.
You’ll get splashes on sit-on-top kayaks also, but there are fewer chances of you falling in the water from an inflatable kayak than from board, particularly if you’re getting used to balancing on the board.
Comfortable over long distances
Sitting in a kayak is more convenient than standing on top of a paddleboard if you intend to paddle for long distances. Paddling in rough conditions may be more comfortable in an inflatable kayak when compared to the board as they remain stable even in turbulent waters thanks to the shapes of their hulls. They may be easy to control because of their hydrodynamic shape compared to the broad flat board.
Paddle up in speed with kayaks
A kayak is the best option to get to a place quickly. It’s because, with a double-sided kayak paddle, it’s easy to paddle faster, as you won’t require to move each blade from one side to another, like on the board since it has a blade at one side only. Another point is that the wind can affect the speed of a board as standing up can slow you down. In a kayak, you are closer to the water and thus more resistant to wind.
Simple to learn
Learning paddleboarding is quite easy and anyone can do it. It’s due to this reason the sport is rising in popularity in the last few years. Whereas, kayaking requires practising the particular skills that you need to know before going kayaking.

Full-body workout
Standing up on the board will improve your balance, strengthens your leg muscles and core strength at the same time. This low-impact sport relieves stress, burns extra calories, gives a good cardio workout and has no side effects on your health.
Highly versatile
You can get involved in a lot of activities using your board, which isn’t possible while paddling a kayak. Activities such as fishing, racing, long-distance touring and surfing with boards designed for each purpose.
Yoga SUP
Do board yoga on the water which helps you to relax your mind. Since you’re out on the water and closer to nature in a serene environment, the sound of water can help enhance your yoga experience. Besides, you can also gain a unique view of the water over the horizon.
